Spring Break in CC

The kids walking to the pier with three of their cousins. It was a gorgeous day!

In March, the water is still a little too cold to dip into, but it's hard to resist wading in it.

Spring Break

The kids and I went back home for the first part of our Spring Break and we got to meet a true celebrity---"Coach Carter", you know, the guy whose life the movie is based on. He gave really cool, sock caps (which bear his name) and autographed pictures to the kids. He was very sweet and gracious to us. The two other kiddos in the photo are sweet friends. By the way, Coach Carter has a new movie coming out soon.

It's always great going back home and seeing our oldest friends---these kids have known each other since birth. It was great being back on our old stomping grounds again; this park was one of our favorite places to play.

Nature Walk

Every week, we try to take a Nature Walk; the students sketch one of God's beautiful creations, describing it and telling why they find it fascinating. On this particular, beautiful afternoon, we went to our local Botanic Gardens and had a hard time deciding what to draw---everything was so pretty. Spring is definitely in the air!

Boy meets OREOS

Like Mama, like son.....When I was a kid, I thought I could survive on Oreo cookies and Cool Whip. These were my absolute favorite things to eat. Interestingly, I had never bought Oreo cookies for my children....until this sweet, glorious day. Now, they are my little boy's absolute favorite things to eat (the girls think they're pretty good, too). I'm going to hold off on introducing him to the Cool Whip, for now.

A NEW CAR!!

Why is Grandma Chula (that's my Mom) praising the Lord in this photo? Because all 7 of her children (and their spouses) pitched in to buy her a brand new car---a pretty, red Hyundai Elantra! Words could not express her elation upon receiving this car, nor could words express our excitement to be able to do this for our Mother. This is her first brand new car, ever, in her entire life! One of Mom's friends scolded her because Mom gave the praise, the glory and the credit to God for this great blessing. She told Mom that she didn't need to thank God for the car; she said that Mom should thank her kids instead because we had bought the car. Mom corrected her friend and said that it is God who gave her her children, it is God who provides her children with their lives, jobs, money, ability to work, etc. Every good gift comes from God. Mom recognizes that God chose to bless her through her children; we know that ultimately, God is our Great Provider.

This is a great car! One of the best things about it is that it gets great gas mileage...just for the record, today, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.49!!!!
